This page provides all the information you will need to have a safe and enjoyable fishing excursion.  If you have any questions please call Capt. Hall at 956-689-1911,  use our contact page, or email us at Geaux Deep.

What should I bring?
Non-marking soled shoes (required), sun screen, a camera and film, your fishing license, a cooler in which to carry your fish home and food and drinks.

What is the recommended attire?
Dress for the weather.  If it is expected to be cool to cold, dress with warm layered clothing.  If the weather is going to be warm to hot then lighter garments will suffice.  You may want to consider protection from the sun when choosing your attire.  Be sure to bring the sun screen.  It will be needed.  Lip balm may also good to have.

What about rain gear?
Rain gear is normally not required because the boat has enclosed cover.

Where can I get a fishing license and what type do I need?

One can obtain a Texas fishing license at various bait houses before launch. Texas State fishing license and a saltwater stamp are required.

Note: The 80th Texas Legislature passed a bill requiring anyone landing fish caught in the Gulf of Mexico in Texas to possess a valid Texas saltwater fishing license and saltwater stamp endorsement. The bill, introduced as H.B. 3765, was rolled into H.B. 12 and signed into law by Gov. Rick Perry June 15'.
Previously, anglers fishing in federal waters — often on “party” or “head” boats, but on private boats as well — were not required to have a Texas fishing license. Anglers exempt from the requirement to hold fishing license and saltwater stamp endorsement (for instance, anglers under the age of 17 or those born before Sept. 1, 1930) also are exempt from the new law.

How much will my license cost?

Please go to the following Texas Park and Wildlife web page: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/annual/fish/fishlicense.phtml

What is the minimum size ice chest one should bring?

Bring a small ice chest for on-board snacks and drinks.  Bring one 54 quart ice chest to take home your gallon zip-loc bags of fish fillets.

What type of food should one bring or not bring?
No bananas will be allowed on the boat (they are considered bad luck).  Bring sandwiches / sandwich fixings, chips, and other finger food.

Any limitation on the type of beverages?   Do you supply potable water on the boat?

The boat has 18 gallan of fresh water.  You need to bring bottled drinking water (some recommended), soft drinks or adult beverages of your choice.  Adult beverages should be used in moderation. The Captain reserves the right to terminate the trip if adult beverages are abused and no monies will be refunded.  We have a ZERO drug policy and it will be strictly enforced.

What about motion sickness medication?

Sea sickness medication is the guest’s responsibility.  If in doubt, bring it

Any age limit on children?

Families are welcome; however, parents will be responsible for caring for and managing their children.  It is suggested that young children (less than 6 years old) not only be accompanied by a parent but watched very closely by that parent. Keep in mind that we will be in close quarters for the whole day.

Is there anything else I should know?
  • Hand held marine electronics will not be allowed on board.

  • All fish are filleted and bagged but size and quantity limits are strictly adhered to according to the law.  All billfish will be tagged and released so be sure to bring your camera.
  • Our crew is experienced, enthusiastic, and entertaining. They work to make your fishing adventure both enjoyable and memorable.   Their income is dependent on gratuities.  A 15-20% gratuity is customary and greatly appreciated.
